Though metal braces are still the most popular type of orthodontic appliance, they are certainly not the only option available! Let’s explore some of the other possibilities.

Metal Braces

The most popular type of fixed orthodontic device is traditional metal braces. They are made up of two parts- a band that wraps around the back molars and smaller brackets that get cemented to the front surfaces of teeth. A small wire gently guides teeth into good posture, which is usually held in place by elastic bands, metallic ties or other clasps connected to brackets.

Metal braces, despite being outdated to some, are popular for a reason: they're reliable, cost-effective, and effective. Today's versions of conventional braces are smaller, lighter, and more comfortable to wear than in the past. If you want something that looks distinctive., you may use bright elastics on your brackets or look at other possibilities.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are a good choice for individuals who don't want metal or metal-look braces to stand out. They're less apparent than traditional braces because they use the same components. The brackets on the front of the teeth are composed of translucent ceramic that matches with the tooth's natural shade, making it difficult to detect unless you look closely. Adults (including several well-known celebrities) have begun to utilize this technique.

Ceramic braces are available in many different designs and colors, with the technology continuing to improve. They can be very attractive... but there are some disadvantages. Ceramic brackets may not last as long as metal ones; additionally, while the brackets don't usually stain, the elastic bands connecting them to the archwire do stained easily (though these are normally replaced monthly.) Ceramic braces also cost more than metal braces; yet for a lot of people ,the advantages of inconspicuousness outweighs any extra costs .

Lingual Braces

For many individuals, fixed braces are more successful than detachable ones, and metal components may be less apparent. However, there is another technique to make genuine fixed braces completely undetectable. Lingual braces are a type of hidden appliance that can be placed on the tongue side of teeth in certain situations. They work similarly to other metal braces but cannot be seen since they are obscured behind the teeth!

Although Lingual braces may not be the best option for everyone, if you want a less noticeable form of fixed appliance and meet the requirements, they might work great. Specialized knowledge is needed to put them on which means they'll cost more than traditional braces. They also take slightly longer to get used to but will shorten treatment in the end.
